The Public Relations Officer of Menzgold Ghana Limited, George Quaye has stepped down amid back and forth with Bank of Ghana and Securities and Exchange Commission, Ghana (SEC).
He stepped down after working with the embattled gold dealership firm for less than a month after his appointment.
The former PRO of Charterhouse Ghana Limited – the organisers of the annual Ghana Music Awards – was appointed a few weeks ago by Nana Appiah Mensah, the CEO of Menzgold, to steer its communication affairs.
But his appointment was met with conflict with the Bank of Ghana and SEC which resulted in the firm’s alleged collapse.
George Quaye was in August this year appointed as the Head of Communications of Menzgold.
His appointment came as a shock to some in the communications industry because of his background as an entertainment pundit and TV production heavyweight.
He has worked at production and event company, Charter House, for almost 12 years where he also served as Head of Communications before he moved to Menzgold.
Mr. Quaye joined Menzgold at a time when the firm was facing troubles with state regulators about the firm’s operations.
